Dear Maverick Families,
We are just around the corner to starting another wonderful school year here at Mesa Verde. I know Summer isn’t over yet, but I want to make sure that you all have the information and dates that you need to get off to a smooth start in August.
There is an incoming Seniors parent night on August 12th from 6pm-7pm in the PAC. The Counselors will be going over all the important information that you will need to know to help guide your student towards Graduation.
Freshman Parent and student Orientation night is August 13th from 4pm-7:00pm in the Big Gym. Students should wear comfortable clothes and shoes and bring a water bottle. Freshman Parent Orientation is also on August 13th from 6-7pm in the PAC. We have important information for parents and fun activities planned for students.
As a reminder, the first day of school is Thursday, August 14th with a start time of 8:30am and an early release day at 2:10pm.
Back to school nights are September 24th for block 1 and January 28th for block 2 from 6-7:30pm. You will follow your students’ schedule of classes. Each class will last 10 minutes. This is your opportunity to meet your students’ teachers and learn about the curriculum that will be covered in the class.

ALL STUDENTS AND FAMILIE > Important Action Items:
****NEW ELECTRONIC DEVICE POLICY: In accordance with new State legislation the San Juan USD has adopted new restrictions on the use of electronic devices during the instructional day. Please review this policy here Mesa Verde Cell phone/Personal Device policy. This policy will be strictly enforced starting day one of school, August 14th.
Mandatory Online Emergency Card, School Funding Form, and Computer and Internet Availability - These can be found by logging into the parent portal at https://sis.sanjuan.edu/parentportal.
Once logged in you will follow the directions provided in this mailer. (If you do not have your login information, please contact Kelly Rae Harrell at KellyRae.Harrell@sanjuan.edu or by phone at 916-971-5299.
Return Outstanding Textbooks - If you have outstanding Mesa Verde textbooks and/or novels please return them to the main office as soon as possible. Textbooks and novels can be returned to the main office, Monday - Friday between the hours of 8:30am and 3:30pm.
Student Schedules:
Schedules will become viewable in the parent and student portal on Tuesday, August 12th. Mesa Verde will not be hosting a schedule pick up day prior to school. Students will receive a printed schedule on the first day of school on Thursday, August 14th. Students and parents can log into their portal by visiting the following websites: https://sis.sanjuan.edu/studentportal or https://sis.sanjuan.edu/parentportal.
Pictures and ID Cards for All Grades:
Pictures will be taken during school on August 19th. Students will be provided with their ID card at this time.
Purchase your Yearbook and Senior Ads now!
The yearbook price is $55. Prices go up in January. Submit your Senior Ads online through the Walsworth Yearbook website. Senior ads are due by December 19th. All yearbook information can be found here Walsworth yearbook purchasing
Senior Portraits:
Mesa Verde has partnered with Bill Smith Photography for the upcoming year. Families must book their Senior portrait/yearbook picture with Bill Smith Photography. Please contact Bill Smith immediately to book your sitting. Please note that families receive a free sitting for students who are taking the “yearbook only” option. Families can elect to sign up for an upgraded sitting at their own expense. Textbook Check Out:
Students will receive textbooks during the first full week of school while on campus.
PE Clothes-
PE clothes can be purchased starting the week of August 4th in the Finance office from 8am-3:30pm. The cost is $10 for shorts and $10 for shirts. Once purchased, you will take your receipt to the PE teacher once school starts and they will distribute the clothes.
Mesa Verde Student Handbook-Please take some time to look through and read the student handbook. It has important information that you need to know. All Mesa students are held accountable to our standards of behavior and the dress code. 25-26 Mesa Verde Student Handbook

Communication Tools to Stay Connected:
1. Mesa Verde App: On your mobile device you can search “Mesa Verde App” in the Google Play Store or iTunes App Store. Mesa Verde uses this app to send out notifications. Additionally, our app provides a one-stop-shop for important information as it links to our school website.

4. Blackboard connect and talking points Phone Calls, Emails, and Text Messaging: Mesa Verde regularly sends information through our mass communication system. It is important that families ensure accurate communication information within their portal. Also, it is extremely important for students and families to regularly check their email and not block phone calls from our school system. ** We will be using the text messaging feature more regularly, please visit the following website to make sure your settings allow for text messaging.
