Preventing Cheating & Plagiarism as an Online Student:  Some students who are new to online learning may be tempted to cheat because they're not being actively supervised while others may accidentally cheat without even knowing it. Our guide helps online students learn about the potential consequences of cheating, breaks down the different types of cheating, and provides strategies for avoiding plagiarism -- one of the most common forms of online cheating.

Our Mission

NetSmartz Workshop is an interactive, educational program of the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children® (NCMEC) that provides age-appropriate resources to help teach children how to be safer on- and offline. The program is designed for children ages 5-17, parents and guardians, educators, and law enforcement. With resources such as videos, games, activity cards, and presentations, NetSmartz entertains while it educates.

    Empower children to help prevent themselves from being exploited and to report victimization to
                    a trusted adult

The Children’s Internet Protection Act or (CIPA)
Enacted by Congress in 2000 to address concerns about children’s access to harmful content on the Internet. In 2011 CIPA was updated with certain requirements for schools. Schools subject to CIPA have two important requirements.  First, Internet safety policies must include monitoring the online activities of minors; and second as required by the Protecting Children in the 21st Century Act, they must provide for educating minors about appropriate online behavior, including interacting with other individuals on social networking websites and in chat rooms, and cyberbullying awareness and response.
